Troop 216 Celebrates 35th Anniversary

Festivities at Court of Honor include honoring past Scoutmasters

A Court of Honor was held on Tuesday February 5th at the St. Michael's Parish Center to celebrate both the success of the troop as well as its scouts.  35 years ago, Troop 216 was started in the original St. Michael's location, which is the current Barnes and Noble at the Maynard/Walnut Street intersection.  Though we have more than 80 scouts in 2013, back in 1978 the troop started with a dozen boys.  8 of the 10 Troop 216 Scoutmasters attended the Court of Honor and were given an opportunity to reminisce about the troop during their tenure as Scoutmaster!  Family values, parental involvement and the lifelong effect scouting had on their lives was a common theme in their comments.  Merit badges and rank advancements were bestowed upon the scouts.  Nick Board received his Eagle Medal and current Scoutmaster Chuck Gay was presented with the Scoutmaster Award of Merit recognition.
